What if my patient has a psychiatric illness such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder?

Refer to Mental Health via eConsult. Patients may be provided with the LAC Mental Health Access Line (800-854-7771), however eConsult is preferred.

What if my patient needs to see a psychiatrist emergently/urgently (e.g. acute psychosis)?

If on a Wednesday afternoon—discuss with the psychiatry team in Dr. Brown’s office (B06-19) and if there are open appointment slots, the patient will be scheduled for same day assessment with the psychiatry resident.

Other days—refer to Exodus Mental Health Urgent Care or the HUMC Psych ER.

Does your patient have a Depressive Disorder, Anxiety Disorder or Adjustment Disorder that you would like a Psychiatrist to evaluate?

Submit a Specialty request to Social Work ➡️ Reason for Consult Clinical Social Worker:

Our Clinical Social Worker will discuss your patient’s case with our consulting psychiatrist at their weekly Collaborative Care Meeting and schedule as appropriate.
